to do's

hey myron. tried to call. hoping to meet up and finish details at deeper life?
Will that work for you?

here are some things to remember, if I have anything different than you let me know:

Devos- speak and write out quiet time material.me Tuesday "presence", Thursday "close"
you Monday "Power", Wednesday "wisdom"

Budget. not much here. NEeding to spend probably 300 or so to help get Ken here from mexico. he said it takes about 350 each way. do we want to allot more if we can or wait and see what we have left?

Still no word from the bridge so we need a "big finish" item still, a major fun item.
Something memorable.

We need to secdure teachers for classes (which means settling on classes)

Any menu item requests need to be made.

Is the band secured?

Do we have anyone for tech?

Xan will do the morning show.

Spoke with Darin. HE's excited. Willing to do a campfire too. Plans on staying the whole time instead of driving back and forth which is great. Loving him already.

these aren't in any particular order. just thought i'd try to touch base.

Sub-theme brainstorming

Sub-themes

These are just beginning thoughts on the sub-themes definitely not complete.  Several of them are just glimpses of where I think we could go with them or the only things I could think of at the time.  I would really like to ask a good tough question with them if we can.

Thought on the gener

Thought on the general theme: Get real (yo)

So you wan to get real?  “The world” would have us believe that reality is found in possessions, status, the tangible.  In not holding back how you feel even when that means but letting others “have it” and being nasty to others because that is the “real you”. (In other words it’s being selfish and self centered.)  The scriptures reveal to us that truth is discovered in our relationship with the one who created all that the world points to as “real”.
The world is close, but shortsighted.  You cannot separate reality from God.  Scripture tells us that all things were made By Him and For him , and that all that is seen (aka all that is “real”) was made of things which are not visible. All things, both those visible and those not visible are made by and for Him. (Col 1:16ff, Heb 11:3ff) So if you want to “get real” you have to “get God”.
We’re talking about substance about what things really are, about truth.  If everything, without exception, finds its purpose, its reality, its truth in Him, WE find our truth, our reality in Him as well.  We must find reality in finding God. You cannot separate reality from God.  To “get real” we have to “get God.”

To do lists from Jan

To do lists from January mtg:

I am supposed to:

  • Contact Ken Hosken about being the missionary.

  • Work on icons for each days’ theme

  • Find out what the budget is from someone

  • Look at oriental trading company for stuff for the day of presence

  • Put together dean’s meeting sheet including mock-up of the daily schedule

  • Doublecheck prices with Dr.H and Isaac Improv

  • Call other churches/camps about scheduling Dr. H to lowere the cost for us (also the fundraiser idea, see if someone else wants to take it over)

Myron should:
  • Work on ideas for the classes.

  • Call to see who is attending

  • Also check oriental trading company

  • Work on gathering verses for the Small groups memory work time

  • Choose some group initiatives. That match the sub-themes

  • Talk with Doug about the band

Speaker

Hey Myron, I think I secured a speaker for camp. I couldn't bring myself to ask my to guys...something (Spirit?) was keeping me from it. I was visiting with Dad about speakers and he tossed out a name to me that they had been considering for quite a while at CIY. Darin Kleeman. OCC guy but lets not hold that against him. Talked to him today and he is open and eager. He had been praying for a few opportnities to speak. I havent heard him but he was buzzworthy at CIY so he should be able to connect well with the students. Looking forward to the meet next week. Working on a few ideas. Trying a few contacts out...

Worship guy

well, got an e-mail back from Nathan asking for $850 plus a few meals for the band. Don't think that's where i want to blow my budget. If you think your band can do it, and do it well, let's book'em. Any thoughts on cost? will post again later about a few other things I was thinking about since we met. They will justify a different post though. later
